`PM Nawaz should learn from the past`

TAXILA: Former senator and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) senior leader Syed Zafar Ali Shah on Thursday said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should learn from history.

Talking to the media, the veteran PML-N leader said the government and the establishment should be on the same page in interest of the country and the nation.

He said if the prime minister had not learnt from the past, it was the right time to do so.

In reply to a question about the performance of the PML-N government, he said: `Not good, not bad.` He said Pakistan Tehreek+1nsaf (PTI) had been busy in a blame game during the last two years and did not start any mega project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PTl created a lot of fuss in the name of rigging in the 2013 elections but practically did not come up with a single proposal for the electoral reforms, he added. He said Imran Khan lost his popularity after taking a U-turn in every matter.

About his defeat in the local government elections in UC-30 Islamabad, Mr Shah said, `I am a victim of party politics and technical rigging.

He wondered how a seasoned and senior worker of the ruling party could lose the local government elections without a conspiracy. He held the PML-N members responsible for chalking out a `plot` for his defeat. The former senator also accused the ECP staff of intimidating his panel candidates.

`I have a number of reservations on the party performance in the local government elections and will apprise my leader Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of it soon,` he added.
