Two persons killed in Oghi incidents

MANSEHRA: Two persons were killed in separate incidents in Oghi tehsiihere on Saturday.

In Rashida area, Zakir Shah,studentof9thgrade, was killed when the shawl he was wearing entangled in the rear tyre of the motorbike he was travelling on, veering it off the road.

Separately, a woman, wife of Ali Mohammad, was killed by a speeding carin Shergarh area of the tehsil.

The woman was rushed to civil hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.

Oghi police after lodging FIR of both the incidents started further investigations.

CONVOCATION: Vice Chancellor of Hazara University Dr Mohammad Idrees has said that higher education plays vital role in empowering nations in the fields of science and technology.

He made the remarks while addressing students at the convocation of a girls` degree college on Saturday.

`Advancement in the fields of science and technology has turned some countries into economic powerhouses, but our country is still lagging behind in this field. And, I would advise you to give due importance to science and technology not only for your own benefit but also for the supremacy of your country,` he told the graduating students.

He asked them to pay attention to research and innovation with a view to contributing towards economic stability of the country.

He said that stigma of terrorism, violence against women and intolerance were unfortunately attached with Muslims and they were treated and seen with suspicion in Europe.

`It is your collective responsibility to bring back the lost glory of Muslims through achievements in higher education and changing attitudes, Dr Idrees stressed.
