Photographers on Royal Trail

LAHORE: A grand photo walk on the Royal Trail was organised by the Walled City of Lahore Authority on Saturday. Attended by around 800 photographers, theWCLA claims the event biggest one in Pakistan.

Students and amateur photographers representing various institutions including Comsats, Garrison College, King Edward, Naqsh Art, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, PunjabUniversity, UMT, Government College University, Kinnaird College, UET, NCA, PIFD, University of South Asia, University of Gujrat, FC College and Superior College participated in the walk.

The walk started from Delhi Gate where, according to a WCLA spokesperson, the main highlighted point was the Shahi Hamam.

The groups were taken to the restored streets which included Gali Surjan Singh, Sabeel Wali Gali, Phoolon Wali Gali, Gali Mian Sultan and Huqay Wali Gali.

The groups were also taken to the Wazir Khan Mosque for photography. The main Havelis on the Royal Trail were also visited by the photographers for photography.

The Sheesh Mahal of Haveli Mian Sultan was also opened up for photographers. Pani Wala Talab, the oldest water reservoir built in 1829, was one of the attractions as well.

Haveli Awais Meer was especially opened for welcoming thephotographers. The end point of the photo walk was the Lahore Fort where the photographers were taken to allparts ofthefort.

During the route, magicians and snake charmers performed. Light music was arranged at Food Street along with Dhol performances.

Each group was led by a WCLA tourist guide. The participants were divided into 35 groups.

Special security measures were taken by police.

Speaking on the occasion, WCLA Director General Kamran Lashari said, `We are trying to engage youth and students inside the Walled City for its promotion and tourism. Many among the new generation are unaware of the heritage and culture. I am glad on the enthusiastic participation of the youth in the event.

WCLA Marketing Director Asif Zaheer and photographers including Abdul Rahman, Ms Afshan, Saba Mehboob, Tehmina Shah and Fareed Khan also spoke on the occasion.
