IUB hosts Seerat conference

BAHAWALPUR: The government was making efforttocreate anenvironment of mutual respect and tolerance in the country and the Salat system introduced in Islamabad was part of such endeavours.

State minister for education Baleeghur Rehman said this in his inaugural address at a three-day international Seerat Conference that began here on Monday.

He said efforts could be made to extend the Salat system to other cities as well.

He stressed the need for protecting the Islamic ideology in the country, urg-ing people to up bring the future generations according to Islamic teachings.

The second session was presided over by Kuwaiti scholar Dr Waleed Bin Muhammad Bin Abdullah Bin Muhammad Al Ali.

Ms Shehnaz Zaheer of Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, and Dr Sohail Hassan of International Islamic University, Islamabad, presented keynote addresses in the third and fourth sessions, respectively.

In the conference organised under the Seerat Chair of the Islamia University (IUB), 50 delegates from countries including Saudi Arab, Kuwait, Bangladesh, United States are participating, besides local scholars.
