Salu chalks out five-year growth plan

KHAIRPUR: Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur has prepared a fiveyear strategic plan which covers all aspects of academics, research, governance, finance and curricular activities.

This was stated by Salu Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Parveen Shah while presiding over the 13th meeting of the academic council.

In order to create the quality-learning environment, the university was consistently trying to enhance and improve the teaching modes, she said.

She revealed that the implementation of ISO 9001:2008Quality Management System was under way. Last week the Higher Education Commission had accorded an administrative approval of a mega project, amounting Rs655.9 million, for which the consultant had been hired and appointments of project staff was in progress and the work would be started just after Eidul Fitr.

She said the university had become a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU) working under the umbrella of Unesco and got membership of Oracle Academy by which students would be trained for 21st century careers and teachers would be provided worldclass training with profes-sional development opportunities. The university was fully aware of the fact that doctoral students played an important role in the creation of new knowledge which was imperative as well as inevitable for socio-economic development of the nation, she said.

The VC said she was trying her best to provide a forum for Pakistan`s leading scientists, scholars, statesmen, parliamentarians, religious leaders, prominent social workers, youth and service leaders.

The efforts also aimed at promoting programmes for research, reconciliation, harmonious coexistence and cooperation among the peoples of region and Pakistan.
