Teachers take to streets against monitoring system

MANSEHRA: The local teachers took to streets here on Sunday against monitoring system of the education department.

`We would never accept harassment of teachers in the name of monitoring. If government doesn`t make this system free of ambiguities and harassment, we would launch an agitation against it, Waqar Hussain Shah, the chairman ofeducation council, told the protesting teachers.

He said that monitoring system of education department was welcomed by teachers but it turned into a complete failure as it was being used to harass teaching staff.

`Our teachers are regular in performing duty but their salaries are deducted as they are shown absent in the registers.

It is unacceptable to us,` said Mr Shah.

He said that teachers performed duty during census and anti-polio drives but education department deducted Rs 2,000 each from the salaries of 355 teachers on the reports of monitoring teams.

The protesters alleged that monitoring teams were favouring the staff posted at educational offices and their names were not included in the list prepared fordeduction of amount from their salaries.

NAAT COMPETITION: The persons with disabilities from Abbottabad clinched first and third positions in 4th Khyber PakhtunkhwaPunjab Naat completions here on Sunday.

The Right to Live, an organisation working for uplift of visually impaired people, arranged the competitions among people with disabilities from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Federal Minster for Religious Affairs Sardar Mohammad Yousuf was chief gust on the occasion.

Seven people with disabilities -eight from Punjab and nine from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, participated in the competition. Mohammad Tassadag from Abbottabad clinched first position.

Adnan Rasheed from Rawalpindi stoodrunner up. Saba Pervez from Abbottabad got third position.

District nazim Sardar Said Ghulam, MPA Ibrar Tanoli and district naib nazim Murtaza Tanoli were present on the occasion.

The federal minster announced an Umrah trip for the winners. He said that well off people should come forward and support welfare organisations, worl(ing for marginalised segments of society.

TRANSFER: The chief justice of Peshawar High Court has issued transfer order of the superintended of district and sessions court from Battagram to Mansehra.

Asif Shah, who was posted as superintendent with district and sessions judge of Battagram, has been transferred in his position to Mansehra.
