`Centre must give rights to smaller provinces

TIMERGARA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance Muzaffar Said on Sunday said that they had raised several crucialissues with the federal government to engage it on ChinaPakist an E conomic Corridor, National Finance Commission award, net hydel profit and energy policy for result-oriented outcome with the sole aim to safeguard interests of people of the province.

Talking to this correspondent here at his native Talash village, he said that the annual congregation of Jamaat-i-Islami at Azakhel would prove to be a turning point in their struggle against corruption.

He said that the federal government had no moral ground to delay the rights of the smaller provinces. He said that it was high time that the centre must hand over energy and damsrelated departments to the provinces, including Wapda.

He claimed that this was the only way to minimise the electricity and gas loadshedding, adding the provinces could better cope with the needs of the people.

The minister said that the provincial government was trying to uproot corruption and ensure supremacy of merit.

He asked the workers to mobilise people to attend JI congregation at Azakhel on Oct 22. He said that funds for the ongoing schemes in the district had been released.

CLASS-IV EMPLOYEES: The All Class-IV Employees Association, Lower Dir, held a demonstration in front of the deputy commissioner`s office at Balambat the other day to protest against what they called their 24-hour duty.

The protesting employees working in government departments were led by their president Dost Mohammad and general secretary Nazir Mohammad, who said on the occasion that the class-IV employees at schools and colleges were being forced to perform 24-hour duty.

They demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to appoint separate watchmen for schools, colleges and hospitals. They also asl(ed the Lower Dir administration to fill all the vacant posts of class-IV in thedistrict.-Correspondent
