By Our Correspondent 2016-10-12
ABBOTTABAD: District nazim Sardar Sher Bahadar has asked district police officer Khurram Rasheed to appear before him in a week to explain position on the growing lawlessness in Abbottabad.

The nazim called the DPO by issuing a show cause notice under the KP Police Act 2016.

In the notice, the nazim maintained the DPO had lost the people`s confidence due to the worsening law and order situation in the district.

He said the crime rate, especially that of murders, had alarmingly increased during the last six months and that the people`s complaints about the police`s poor conduct had grown.

The nazim said the DPO should appear before him in seven days to explain position on the matter.

FIR REGISTERED: The police registered an FIR against Mirpur DSP Amjad Hussain, Nawansher police station SHO Sheharyar Khan, Additional SHO Aurangzeb Khan and constable Mazhar Abbas over the recent killing of a citizen in a `fake encounter`.

The development occurred on the orders of the DIG of Hazara police.

After registering the FIR, the Nawansher police began search for the suspects.

The deceased, Junaid alias Joni, was picked up by the police from his house for verification.

However, he was later found dead in a nearby graveyard.

Relatives staged rallies accusing the police of killing their family member in custody.

A police committee formed by the DIG of Hazara police also found the charge to be true.

There followed meetings between local notables and police bosses, which led to the orders by the DIG for the registration of FIR against the policemen suspected of involvement in killing.

The DIG promised the dispensation of justice to the deceased`s family and said he won`t allow any policeman to misuse powers.
