Lakki police not satisfied with security of schools

LAKKI MARWAT: Police have registered cases against the heads of several private and government schools over inadequate security arrangements at their respective institutions.A local police official told mediapersons on Wednesday that officials of Dadiwala police station visited several public and private schools in Kotka Mohammad Ayub, Wanda Maghara, Wanda Toregal, Sarkati Michenkhel, Kalchi Kamar, Wanda Aurangzeb and Mash Masti Khani to check security arrangements there.

`During the visits the officials found that the administration of educational institutions has not taken proper measures to ensure safety ofthe students and teachers.` he said.

He said that separate cases were registered against the principals and headmasters in the police stations concerned.

Meanwhile, the police claimed to have recovered hashish from the hideouts of drug pushers in Abakhel and Esakkhel villages.A police official said on Wednesday that they raided the hideouts of drug pushers in Abakhel and recovered a small quantity of hashish from the houses of Hanifullah and Hamidullah and cases were registered against them.

He said that the law enforcers also recovered 570 grammes of hashish from the houses of Younas and Hazrat Ali in Eesakkhel.

IQBAL DAY FUNCTIONS: Literary societies of the government girl`s degree colleges in Lakki and Naurang towns on Wednesday held functions in connection with the birth anniversary of Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal.

Principal Ms Fatima of Lakki college and principal Ms Shafgat Yasmeen of Naurang college presided over the two functions.

The students took part in the declamation, painting and calligraphy competitions on the occasion.

They also sang poems and poetic verses of Allama Iqbal and paid tribute to him in their speeches.

The principals said that Allama Iqbal was the national poet and great philosopher and that he had played a vital role in the struggle for independence ofPakistan.

They said that by following the thoughts and philosophy of Allama Iqbal Pakistan could be made a prosperous country. They asked the students to learn from the teachings of Allama Iqbal and do their best to fulfil their responsibilities as good citizens. Correspondent
