No electricity in Chakesar during daytime

SHANGLA: Residents of Chakesar tehsil of Shangla have complained that the Peshawar Electric Supply Company keeps power supply to the entire tehsil disconnected during daytime and restore it for a few hours during night.

They said that this situation had been continuing for the last four months, creating problems for the people.

Talking to this correspondent, the local people said that they had been facing numerous problems because of the long electricity suspension and the elected representatives from the area failed to resolve the issue.

They said the power supply was disconnected from the Thakot grid station early in the morning and restored at 10:00pm daily.Shaukat Ali, a local resident, said that the other day he needed copy of a document, but no shop was of fering the facility due to electricity suspension.

`We have even no source to charge our mobile phones during the whole day. Women also face dif ficulties while washing clothes with their hands in the cold weather,` he said.

Abdul Haseeb, president of Chakesar trade union, said that they had been facing the power suspension issue since long and they staged several protests, but to no avail. He said that Chakesar had the main bazaar of the tehsil where people came from all the union councils for shopping.

He demanded of the Pesco authorities to take steps for restoring smooth supply of electricity.

When contacted, SDO Pesco Mohammad Ali said that both feeders got overloaded at the same time and that`s why consumers of Torghar district were provided electricity in the daytime and that of Chakesar at night time.

DOCTORS` PROBLEMS: Doctors and other staff of the tehsil headquar-ters hospital Bisham have complained about lack of accommodation facilities in the hospital.

They said that doctors` hostel was built near the hospital and handed over to the district health department in 2012, but it still lacked basic facilities like water, electricity and sewerage system.

`We are residing in the hospital wards because we have no proper accommodation. PML-N leader Amir Muqam had made commitment two years ago with us to provide a transformer for the hospital, but to no avail,` said Dr Rab Nawaz.

Rashid Bakht Rawan, another doctor from Chakesar, told this correspondent that most of the doctors and nursing staff were non-locals serving in the hospital and they were suf fering due to lack of accommodation facility.

He said there was no safety wall and the hostel was unsafe for them.

When contacted, Shangla DHO Dr Shafiul Mulk told this scribe that he had written to the government for provision of missing facilities in the hostel, but presently it was not fit for use.
