Villagers end sit-in against SNGPL after talks

KARAK: A five-day sit-in staged by the residents of Nari Panos and Bahaderkhel union councils ended here af ter `successful` negotiations between the elders and the authorities of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), following which the gas supply was restored to the af fected areas.

The negotiations were held in a local seminary at Khuram Muhammad Zai area on the night between Thursday and Friday. The elders complained about low gas pressure in their area and demanded that Sale Metre Station (SMS) should be installed in the area to resolve the problem.

They also demanded provision of gas to the remaining areas of the district. The SNGPL authorities assured the elders through an agreement that the gas would be provided to the areas within two months and that the SMS would also be installed to resolve the issue of low gas pressure once for all.

The agreement stipulated fixing of a valve on the main transmission line for the time being followed by installation of SMS.

The SNGPL authorities also announced to restore the gas supply to the af fected union councils within 24 hours.

SUPPLEMENTARY EXAM: The supplementary examination of BA/BSc under the Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak will commence from Nov 23. In this regard, roll number slips have been sent to the regular candidates on the addresses of their respective colleges. This was stated in a press release issued by the controller of examinations of the university, Rahim Khattak, here on Friday.

The press release said the roll number slips of private candidates had been sent on their postal addresses.

It said if any candidate didn`t receive the roll number slip they could contact the examination section of the university during of fice timings.
