Education & govt duty

2015-05-13
EDUCATION in Pakistan is in tatters. Since the country came into being some 23 policies and action plans have been introduced, but the educational sector is waiting for a saviour. The government of Pervez Musharraf invested heavily in the education sector and that era saw a visible, positive educational change in Pakistani society.

Nowadays, the economic situation in Pakistan is under stress and education is the worst-affected sector. The Constitution says: `The state of Palcistan shall remove illiteracy and provide free and compulsory secondary education . .

Pakistan, in Human Development Report, is placed at 136th position for having just 49.9pc educated populace. The primary completion rate in Pakistan, according to the Unesco data centre, is 33.8pc in females and 47.18pc in males, which shows that people in the sixth largestcountry of the world are unable to get basic education.
