Relief, roads and health remain atop suppl budget

LAHORE: Relief, roads and bridges besides public health demands remained atop the 2014-15 supplementary budget statement of Rs42.95 billion presented before the Punjab Assembly here on Friday.

The voted supplementary demands for 2014-15 were 15 against 18 for 2013-14, while the number of minimum or token voted supplementary demands remained 25 against 23 for 2013-14.

Voted supplementary demands required approval by the provincial legislature.

Approval by the legislature is not required for the charged demands that were presented before the house. Such demands were for general administration Rs1,000 million, for administration of justice Rs679.95 million, for civil works Rs23.38million and for interest on debt and other obligations Rs2.28 billion.

The minimum or token 2014-15 voted supplementary demands of Rs1,000 million each related to opium, land revenue, forest, registration, charge on account of Motor Vehicles Acts, irrigation and land reclamation, administration of justice, jails and convict settlements, police, museums, education, health services, agriculture, fisheries, veterinary, co-operatives, communications, housing and physical planning department, subsidies, civil defence, state trading in food grains and sugar, development, irrigation works, town development and government buildings.
