Congo fever kills another man in city

KARACHI: The city health authorities have confirmed another death caused by the Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) at a private hospital, taking the toll of such victims in the city to three this year.

The officials on Friday identified thepatient as Abdul Hakeem Khan, 65, who was admitted to a private hospital four days ago.

He remained in critical condition and died on Thursday, they added.

They said that the victim originally belonged to Kabul, Afghanistan, but his legal status in the country could not be confirmed.

It was the second death in the city inless than two weeks due to the CCHF.

A senior doctor from Bahawalpur died in the same hospital late last month.

The doctor was inflicted with the CCHF while treating a patient at his hospital.

The of ficials said an investigation had been launched to detect the cause of the latest death.
