KP govt urged to help establish university in Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf provincial vice-president Salman Saleem Marwat has demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to accelerate efforts for the establishment of university in Lakki Marwat district.

Talking to Dawn here, he said that the project of establishing a varsity in the district had fallen prey to the red tape in the federal planning division. He alleged that the planning division was not forwarding the project to the Higher Education Commission for preparing its PC-L He lauded Prof Mohammad Jamil Khan and MNA Ameerullah Marwat for initiating efforts to set up a university in the district.

`The establishment of university is a longstanding demand of the district and the PTI leadership should make efforts to materialise it,` he said. Mr Saleem asked the local politicians to avoid politicising the university projectand make join efforts for clinching the university.

GAS DEMANDED: Tehreek Tahaffuz Haqoog-iMarwat, a local rights organisation, has urged the SNGPL to provide natural gas facility to Abakhel and adjacent villages.

At a meeting held here the other day, the tehreek officerbearers, including Zarwali Khan and Johar Mohammad, said that the main pipeline was laid out a few years ago along Abakhel village to provide gas to DI Khan and tank districts.

They claimed that at that time the authorities concerned had promised that they would provide gas to Abakhel, Dallokhel, Kakkakhel and other villages.

The tehreek activists said that the residents of Abakhel, Dallokhel, Kakkakhel, Kalan, Tajazai and other adjacent localities had due right to have natural gas facility. Correspondent
