Mines rescue centre opens in Darra

KOHAT: The Fata Development Authority (Fata-DA) on Wednesday opened the first ever mines rescue satellite centre for tribal areas at the Eagle Fort in Darra Adamkhel.

The authority’s chief executive Fida Mohammad Wazir inaugurated the rescue centre. Assistant political agent, Frontier Region, Kohat, Ali Asghar, Fata-DA director Mustafa Khan, deputy director Saadat Khan, in-charge of the centre Roshan Khan and local elders were present on the occasion.

Mr Wazir said the tribesmen had rendered great sacrifices in the war against terror and now it was time to pay them back. He said the centre had been given an ambulance to provide emergency medical aid, fire extinguishers and rescue facility for miners of Darra Adamkhel and Frontier Region, Peshawar.

The mines rescue satellite centre would work round the clock, he said, adding initially a six-member staff had been provided at the centre which would be increased later. He said soon the centre would be shifted to a permanent building being constructed with a cost of Rs10 million.
