Move to improve patients` care at grassroots level

PESHAWAR: The government is in the process of forming a hospital management board and primary healthcare committees to oversee performance of tehsil and district headquarters hospitals, basic and rural health units to improve patients` care at the grassroots level.

A meeting held here on Wednesday chaired by Health Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai was informed that the work on constitution of the hospital board and the committees was in final stages, according to a statement.

The participants were informed that the move aimed to involve community and provide efficient, uninterrupted and better healthcare.

The committees and boards will comprise elected members of the provincial assembly, local bodies and people of repute along with staff members of the concerned health units.

Secretary Health Dr Jamal Yousaf, Director General Health Dr Pervez Kamal and other relevant officials were in attendance.

The meeting was informed that Rs1 million per annum would be spent by the concerned committees and the board on repair of infrastructure, medical equipments and other urgent nature of works of the health units to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to patients.-Bureau Report
