PAY SCALE: Scores of Punjab community development department`s secretaries, who were recruited for union councils under Pervez Musharraf`s devolution plan, have demanded of the government to revise their pay scales.

The secretaries from four districts -Vehari, Toba, Jhang and Faisalabad -held a convention to form their organisation which will be extended to all districts.

Addressing the convention at Pirmahal on Wednesday, newlyelected organiser Rana Mahboob Ahmad of Vehari said when scales of the clerical staff were revised in Punjab, they should also have been promoted to scale 11 from scale 7like the other clerical staff.

He said they had been regularised in 2009 and 30 per cent amount from their salaries was being deducted since their regularisation, but they did not know in which account this amount was being deposited.

He also criticised the Apca leadership for keeping a mum over this excess being done by the Punjab government with union council secretaries.

Mr Ahmed said the election of office bearers of the All Punjab Secretaries Association would be held after forming its organisation in all districts.

He threatened to launch a protest demonstration outside the chief minister`s house in Lahore if their scales were not upgraded.
