College upgrade sought

BAHAWALPUR: The administration of Government Sadiq Egerton (SE) College, Bahawalpur, has sought university status for historic campus.

This demand was made at a function presided over by Federal Minister of State for Education and Interior Affairs Baleeghur Rehman here on Monday.

Principal Prof Haji Wali Muhammad said the college was 130 years old and was the second oldest campus in the country.

CAMEL MILK CONTEST: A competition of high milk yielding camels was held at the government livestocl< farm, Jugiatpeer, about 30km from here, on Monday.

The camel owned by Shahid Khan yielded 11.93 litres in Braila breed cat-egory and won the first prize of Rs100,000 while in the category of Mariach breed, the camel of Wali Muhammad beat six other camels and won the first prize of Rs100,000.

The second prizes in the two categories went to Amin and Manzoor`s camels who won Rs50,000 each.

Punjab Livestock (extension) DG Dr Nawaz Saeed, who gave away the prizes, said that under CM`s instructions the breeding of camel was being promoted across the province.

He said the camel breeding centre at Bhakkar was being upgraded.

Camel Association President Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that Pakistani camels were in great demand across the world. Correspondent
