Rain dips further temperatures

LAHORE: More rain in Punjab and upper parts of the country on Tuesday further dipped temperatures and continued to create spring like weather conditions in the plains.

Reports indicated light snowfall over Swat, Chitral and Hunza that kept weather cold over the hills. The maximum temperature in Murree was 13 degrees Celsius and the minimum 7.2 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Kalam which was three degrees Celsius. Almost all cities in Punjab recorded below 30 degrees Celsius maximum temperature which was 10 to 15 degrees lower than their normal in May. The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Rahim Yar Khan that was 32.7 degrees Celsius.

Rain, strong wind and hailstones in Lahore in the late afternoon dropped the maximum temperature to just 22 degrees Celsius. The day`s maximum temperature was just 29 degrees Celsius.

The Met office reported that Faisalabad received 37mm of rain, Mangla and Pattan 34(each), Gujrat 33, Kotli 31, Sargodha 28, Kakul 27, Okara 25, Rawalakot 24, Murree 21, Jhelum and Dir 19(each), Muzaffarabad 17, Noorpur Thal, Gujranwala, Balakot, Jhang and Garhi Dupatta 16(each), Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore airport and Islamabad Zero Point 15(each), Islamabad airport and Kalam 14(each), Lahore city, Bahawalnagar, Toba Tek Singh and Sahiwal 12(each), Malamjabba 11, Sialkot Cantt and Chakwal 10(each), Sialkot airport 7, DG Khan 6, Dadu 5, Bahawalpur city, Chilas and Gilgit 2(each).

It forecast scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls as well as strong winds over Fata, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir in the next 24 hours.

Scattered dust thunderstorm-rain over Punjab and North Balochistan, and isolated dust thunderstorm over upper Sindh is also likely.
