Teachers asked to focus on character building of students

TIMERGARA: Speakers at an educational conference called upon teachers to provide proper guidance to students and focus on their character building.

The conference was arranged by Tanzeem-i-Asateza, Lower Dir, at the Centennial Model High School here which was attended by the government and private schools teachers.

District nazim Mohammad Rasool Khan, Tanzeem-i-Asateza provincial president Hameedul Haq, DEO Mohammad Ibrahim,leaderofAllTeachersAssociation Khairullah, JI district chief Izazul Mulk and others spoke on the occasion.They said that it was the time to prepare the nation, especially youth, to come forward and take the responsibility of leading the nation. They said that Pakistan was rich in natural resources and the nation needed sincere and honest leadership that could utilise the resources for uplift of masses.

They said that it was the age of modern sciences and technology and teachers had the responsibility to prepare the new generation for all challenges. They asked the teachers to perform their duties with devotion.

The district nazim said that education should not be considered as only the source of getting a job. He said that the local government wanted to bringchanges in all departments in the district and the teachers should also cooperate in this regard. He said that the police `thana` culture still needed reforms and the district government had planned to provide all possible facilities to the complainants in police stations.

Through a resolution the participants demanded of the federal and provincial governments to implement the Supreme Court verdict regarding Urdu as an official language.

COMPLAINT: A retired Havaldar of Frontier Constabulary Jan Wali on Sunday complained that over 25 people armed with pistols and sticks stormed into his house at Shekolai village in the jurisdiction of Timergara police station and sub-jected the inmates to torture.

Speaking at a press conference along with his sons Ismail and Noor Wall, he alleged that the people led by his rivals Fazal Wahid, Umar Wahid and Suleman entered his house at night and beat the inmates. He said that his wife was injured in the attack. He said that the police had registered a simple case against the accused on the report of his wife. He alleged that the accused were still threatening them.

Mr Wali appealed to the police department to register a case under anti-terrorism law against the people involved in the attack. An official of Timergara police station said that a case had been registered against the four suspects.
