MARDAN: The Academic Staff Association of the Abdul Wali Khan University here on Tuesday boycotted the classes and organised a protest camp on the premises of the varsity to protest alleged mismanagement, nepotism and corruption.

They called for NAB and FIA probes into the `funds misuse` and other irregularities being committed by Vice-Chancellor Dr Ihsan Ali and his other associates.

Addressing participants of the protest camp, the association`s president Dr Hamayun Khan, press secretary Ziaullah Hamdard and others alleged the vicechancellor had no time to meet and listen to them andaddresstheirconcerns.

They alleged that a par-ticular group had been usurping rights of deserved academic staff since the establishment of the varsity. `An environment of mismanagement, nepotism and corruption is prevailing in the university and no one can dare stop this,` they said.

They accused vice-chancellor Ishan Ali of embezzling funds and corruption in development projects.

That claimed it was due to their efforts and commitment that the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan had gained second position in the rankings across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a short span of six years since its establishment.

The varsity academic staff members warned to continue boycott of classes for an indefinite time if the authorities concerned didn`t take their concerns seriously.
