Spelling Bee pool rounds conclude

FAISALABAD: The Faisalabad pool rounds of the lith DAWN In Education Spelling Bee Competition 2015 concluded here on Tuesday at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad auditorium.

The competition was organised by the Dawn Media Group in partnership with the US Embassy in Islamabad.

Around 30 schools participated in the contest divided into three age groups 9-11 years, 12-14 years and 15-17 years. The winners will now participate in the Lahore Regional Championship.

Winners of 9-11 years group were Syed Muaaz Ahmad of Divisional Model College, Madina Town Campus; Ubaidullah Usman of Al-Faisal Grammar High School, Boys Main Branch, Ahmadabad, Nishatabad; and Raees Asif of Faisalabad GrammarSchool Boys, Kohinoor City.

Winners in the 12-14 years category were Selina Bilal of the First Steps School Of Arts and Sciences, East Canal Road, Off Kashmir Bridge; Malaika Shahzad of Angels International College, Atlantis Campus, Canal Road; and Hasnain Muzzamil of Faisalabad Grammar School Boys, Kohinoor City, Jaranwala Road.

In the 15-17 years age group, the winners were Malika Imran of Angels International College, Atlantis Campus, Canal Road; Zainab Yaseen, Umul Madaris Model School, Usmania Campus, 312-A Gulberg; and Waleed Zafar of Angels International College, Atlantis Campus, Canal Road.

Pronouncer of the competition was Batul Jafri and the judges provided by Oxford University Press were Ansa Sattar, Saadia Waheed, Dr Aleem Shakir, Muhammad Bilal, Gul Sana and Saira Akhter.
