LAHOR E: Dispelling the impression of favouritism in the out-of-turn promotion case, the Punjab police department has issued new posting orders of 13 former senior officers, including Umar Virk, as inspectors in various districts of the province.

Of them many have long been enjoying top ranks of SSP, district police of ficer (DPO) and SP.

Punjab IG Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera issued a notification on Oct 10 of new posting places of the reverted police officers to dispel the impression that the department is deliberately delaying implementation of the SupremeCourt`s decision of withdrawing out-ofturn promotions.

An official privy to the information told this reporter that IG`s decision came at a time when the `influential cops` were expecting a `miracle` to retain the previous top positions.

According to the notification, he said, the police officers who had been reverted to the rank of inspectors, have been allotted districts to join the reverted positions for the first time after the out-of-turn promotion case.

The IG`s notification reads, `Consequently, upon withdrawal of out-of-turn promotion of the officers in compliance with the Supreme Court of Pakistan order dated Jan 26, 2016, the officers who have retained the rank of inspectors are hereby posted to the regions/districts as mentioned against their names with immediate ef fect.According to the notification, former DPO Karamatullah Malik,ex-SP Qasim Khan and former SSP CIA Umar Virk have been allotted the Capital City District Lahore to join their respective duties as `inspector`.

Similarly, the former DSPs including Mohammad Azam, Mohammad Sarwar Awan and Qaiser Waseem Butt have also been allotted Lahore district.

The seven other reverted police officials have been directed to report to their respective districts as per notification.

`Still a few senior police of ficers who had been reverted to the lower ranks are enjoying prime posts,` the official said adding that earlier, the IGP had posted some others as DSP af ter reverting them following the SC decision.

Like, he said, former SP Malik Awais had been posted to the CTD, former SP Raja Basharat as DSP CIA Lahore and ex-SP Faisal Gulzar as DSP CTD Gujranwala.
