PESHAWAR: Pak-Afghan Journalists Peace Forum will celebrate a peace week by organising various events to pay tribute to popular Pashto singer Khyal Mohammad.

Addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, tribal journalist Selab Mehsud, a representative of the peace forum, said that during the week services of the known singer would be highlighted by writers, poets and journalists.

Flanked by singer Bakhtiar Khattak, Jamshed Ali Khan and others, he said that the forum would organise different events from Oct 24 to Oct 30 to recognise the services of Pashto ghazal maestro Khyal Mohammad.

The events, he said, would be attended by people belonging to different walks of life including local journalists, poets, writers and literary figures from Afghanistan.

He said that the peace week was aimed at giving a message of peace to rest of the world and promoting brotherhood and unity among the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Bakhtiar Khattak said that people from various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal areas supported them in celebrating the week.

However, he said that the forum would welcome any sort of cooperation from provincial government.

Mr Khattak said that the opening ceremony of the festivity will be organised at Nishtar Hall Peshawar on Oct 24 wherein famous Pashto folk singers, artists, writers and poets would participate.

He said that on the second day, a debate would be held in Peshawar Press Club that would be attended by senior journalists, analysts and experts on Afghan affairs.

The participants, he said, would give proposals to remove mistrust between the two neighbouring countries.

He said that a musical show would be also held at Nishtar Hall Peshawar.
