Lawyers threaten to quit PTI body

PESHAWAR: The entire cabinet of the Insaf Lawyers Forum, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Thursday warned it would resign if the central PTI leadership didn`t take notice of the appointments to the advocate general of fice `against merit`.

According to a news release issued here, a meeting of the ILF was held here under the chairmanship of the forum`s provincial president, Qazi Mohammad Anwar.

Besides, senior lawyer Naeem Bukhari, who recently joined the PTI, the meeting was also attended by ILF provincial general secretary Rubina Naz, vice president Saadullah Marwat, Akhtar Ilyas, Hidayatullah, Saifullah Khalil, Bilal Khan Khalil, Jawedullah and others.

The release said the participants discussed different appointments to the advocate general of fice, including those of additional and assistant advocates general, and observed that most of those appointments were made against merit.

It added that the ILF cabinet members apprised Mr.

Naeem Bukhari of all their reservations about appointments and even said they would resign immediately on the matter.

The release said on assurance of Mr. Naeem Bukhari that he would discuss the matter with the central leadership of the party, the cabinet members postponed their decision to step down.

It said the participants also said few days ago, the KP advocate general uttered `derogatory` remarks against the party`s central leadership and therefore, he should either apologise for it or resign. Bureau Report
