Couple, two nephews killed in road accident

SUKKUR: A couple and their two nephews were killed when a speeding passenger coach hit the motorcycle they were riding at the Mahar Farm locality on Sukkur-Shikarpur Road on Sunday.

Officials at the Tamachani police station said that Allah Dino Jatoi, 55, and his wife, Raheema Jatoi, 50, along with their nephews, Sanaullah and Abdullah, sons of Hazar Jatoi, had left their village, Labano Shakh near Rustam town of Shikarpur district to proceed to Sukkur to attend a marriage ceremony in the New Pind area. The coach coming from Shikarpur was only on its way to Sukkur, they said, adding that the coach hit the motorcycle and ran over the victims killing three of them on the spot.

Ms Jatoi was rushed to the Sukkur Civil Hospital in a critical condition but she also succumbed to her injuries during treatment, the police and hospital staff said.

The coach driver escaped from the scene leaving behind his vehicle, the police said.

An FIR of the accident was yet to be registered, they added.

In another accident, a woman, Sughran Dayo, wife of Shabbir Dayo, was killed and three other persons, including a one-year-old baby, were injured when a crane hit the motorcycle they were riding at the Grid Station locality near Khanpur Mahar town of Ghotki district on Sunday.

The injured victims were admitted to the Shaikh Hamadan Bin Mohammed Hospital ( taluka hospital) in Khanpur Mahar town.

The crane driver was arrested and his vehicle impounded, the police said.
