PESHAWAR: The district administration took notice of the public complaints regarding overcharging consumers by poultry dealers and arrested 12 traders for not displaying price list on their shops.

The raiding party also sealed two chicken shops for violating government orders to ensure cleanliness and hygienic conditions. Deputy Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud in a statement directed the poultry dealers to follow the of ficial price list otherwise strict action would be taken against them.

It was stated that district administration and poultry dealers associations had agreed to follow the decisions taken in a joint meeting recently and in case of violation legal action would be taken against them.

However, a representative of the Poultry Dealers Association, pleading anonymity, said that administration wanted to impose its decisions on the dealers.

`We cannot oppose the administration as many of our members had been sent to jail under 3MPO and the poor people cannot afford it,` he said.

The dealer said that the price of chicken was increased to great extent during the past few days. He said that some of the officials were teasing their association members unnecessarily. He said that deputy commissioner himself should visit the bazaars to check the actual position. Bureau Report
