LHC to take up pleas against CM, mayor

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court will take up on Wednesday (today) a petition by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), seeking disqualification of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for alleged misuse of power and violation of his oath and court orders.

PTl leader Ejaz Chaudhry had filed the petition through former law minister Babar Awan, pleaded that the chief minister had misused his authority and allowed shifting of his family`s sugar mills in violation of ban. The hearing of the petition has been fixed before Justice Ayesha A. Malik.

MAYOR: The LHC chief justice will hear on Wednesday (today) a petition challenging eligibility of retired Col Mubashir Javed who has been elected Lahore mayor.

Advocate Shakeel Ahmad contends in his petition that Mr Javed had been in the government service and cannot contest election before a period of two years after quitting the job. He pointed out that Mr Javed had served as chief warden of the civil defence department and member of the Evacuee Trust Property Board.
