Slippery road claims four lives

GUJRANWALA: Four young men died when their two-wheeler slipped due to slippery road following rain and a trailer ran them over at Alam Chowk on Wednesday night.

Police said Nadeem, Asghar, Waqas and Javed were on way to Lahore.

Police impounded the trailer which was abandoned by its driver and helper.

DIE IN ROOF COLLAPSE: Two minor brothers were killed on Wednesday when the roof of their house collapsed on them in the Baghbanpura locality.

Aaqib, 7, and Saqib, 11, were asleep when the roof of their room collapsed.

Rescue 1122 officials shifted the bodies to theGujranwala District Headquarters Hospital.

PROTEST: Scores of people, including children and women, protested on Wednesday outside the South Northern Gas Pipeline (SNGPL) office against the suspension of gas supply to their houses in Fatomand, Wahdat Colony and Dhullay. They carried bread and clubs as token of protest.

Protesters said they could not not cook food because of the shortage of gas and their children had to leave the house for school without breakfast.

They said alternative fuels like LPG or kerosene oil were beyond their reach.

They also chanted slogans against the officials.

Police persuade the protesters to end the demo.
