ISLAMABAD: A memorial event for renowned Urdu playwright Fatima Surayya Bajia was held at Pakistan Sweet Homes (PSH) on Sunday.

PSH Patron in Chief Zamurud Khan said Fatima Bajia was an asset of the country and will always remain in people`s hearts.

`I hope that one of the girls in this orphanage will grow up to be the next Fatima Surayya Bajia and will play her part in the progress and prosperity of Pakistan,` he added.

Children at the orphanage made speeches about the life of the late writer and made prayers for her.

A little girl from North Waziristan, Hafsah Bibi, said: `Fatima Bajia will always remain in our hearts.

PTI MNA Nafeesa Khattak also paid tributes to Fatima Bajia and said Pakistan needs projects like Sweet Homes.

`It is such a great initiative, with orphaned children being given quality education. Pakistan needs more institutions like Sweet Homes where little children are protected and cared for,` she said. Pakistan Sweet Homes is Pakistan`s largest orphanage, housing around 3,600 orphaned children.

The project started with one child orphaned in the operation in Swat and now, with help from philanthropists from around the country, Sweet Homes has grown to house and educate thousands of children.-A Reporter
