NOWSHERA: Opposition members in the district council Nowshera on Friday staged a demonstration to protest what they called denial of development funds to them by district nazim Liaqat Khattak, who is brother of Chief Minister Pervez Khattak.

The protest was led by opposition leader and ANP`s district president Malik Juma Khan and local JUI-F emir Mufti Imtiaz.

Addressing the gathering, Juma Khan and Mufti Imtiaz said that the district nazim had stopped disbursal of development funds to the opposition members at all the three tiers of the local government.

They alleged that the district nazim often stayed in Islamabad due to which he gave little time to the problems his voters were facing in the district. They claimed that for the last one year no council session was convened. They criticised the provincial minister for local government for not addressing the problems of the representatives of local bodies in Nowshera.

They vowed to continue protest until their problems were resolved. Juma Khan said the PTl government inaugurated the building of the Qazi Medical Complex, but failed to provide equipment to it owing to which, the patients were suffering.-Correspondent
