PESHAWAR: Candidates for teachers` posts in Fata have urged the government to fill the vacancies through NTS to curb political influence in the recruitments.

Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Friday, scores of applicants led by Saeed-ur-Rahman Afridi of Khyber Agency demanded of the authorities to ensure merit and transparency in the recruitments.

Referring to the measures taken by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for ensuring transparency in appointment of teachers, he said the same system needed to be applied in Fata.

Opposing the current communal schooling system, he called for immediate abolishment of the communal teachers` quota.

He said the highly qualified and eligible tribal people had been ignored in recruitment process in presence of primitive communal schooling system in tribal areas. He called for bringing about reforms in the education sector of Fata to eliminate political influence in the recruitment process.-Bureau Report
