Students showcase their Chinese skills

ddressing participants 14th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition at the National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad, Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong, said that friendship between Pakistan and China is touching new heights with each passing day.

He said the two countries embarked on a historical journey of peace and prosperity by signing a milestone agreement during president Xi`s visit to Islamabad last month.

The ambassador said the two countries are committed to implementing the agreement in the best way possible.

The PakistanChina Economic Corridor envisaged in the recently signed agreements would be mutually beneficial, he said. The ambassador expressed hope that the cooperation between the two countries would grow in the coming years.

He said young people in China have been using a new term on the internet, `Iron Brothers` for the strong friendship shared between the two countries.

The ambassador said he was impressed by the speeches presented by the students in the competition. He appreciated the opening of the NUML International Center of Education (NICE) at the Shinjiang Normal University, Urumqi, China.

NUML Director General Brigadier Azam Jamal said that the NUML takes pride in contributing to friendly relations between Pakistan and China. He said it was a matter of pride for NUML that it signed an MoU and an agreement in the presence of Chinese President during his visit to Islamabad.

Later, the Chinese ambassador distributed prizes among the winners of the competition.
