Police command and control centre set up

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Chief Salahuddin Khan Mehsud and United Nations Assistant Secretary General and Director United Nations Development Programme for Asia and Pacific Hoaliang Xu on Wednesday inaugurated Police Command and Control Centre (PCCC) at the Central Police Office here.

A statement issued here said for the speedy response to the public disorders and security threats UNDP supported the establishment of Data Analysis Centre (DAC) at CPO funded by the European Union.

The DAC comprises of two halls, one is the operation room for quick collection, processing and dissemination of crime and public safety related data for informed decision making, while the command and control centre to monitor and deal with crisis through secure real-time audiovisual communication with field commanders, including on mega event security planning and operations.

The state-of-the-an PCCC consists of two ponions: situation room and presentation theatre. Moreover, the situation room is used as a conference room to monitor and deal with crisis and to conduct secure communications with outside field commanders. It is equipped with secure, advanced communications equipment, while the presentation theatre is used for debriefing purpose for the district police officers and regional police officers on mega event security planning and operations.-Bureau Repon
