Bullet-riddled body of currency dealer found in Jamrud

LANDI KOTAL: Unidentified gunmen killed a young currency dealer in Jamrud tehsil on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

Khasadar officials said that bullet-riddled body of Adnan Shinwari was found at a deserted place in Shah Kas area of Jamrud early on Thursday morning.

They said that the body was shif ted to Jamrud civil hospital for autopsy and identification. Later the body was handed over to relatives of the residents, who belonged to Midadkhel area in Landi Kotal, they added.

Family sources said that thedeceased got married only a month ago. They said that they had no enmity or monetary dispute with anyone.

The Jamrud administration registered acase against unidentined killers and started investigations.

SCHOOL: The residents of Sur Kamar in Bara have demanded immediate reopening of the only high school in the area.

They said that the school remained closed for nearly five years. They said that teachers of the said school were receiving their monthly salaries without performing duty.

Saadullah Khan, a resident of the area, told Dawn by mobile phone that they were also faced with acute shortage of both drink-ing and irrigation water.

He said that wheat and mustard crops were badly damaged due to shortage of irrigation water.

Naseeb Shah, another resident, said that about 20-kilometre road from Bara Bazaar to Sur Kamar was also in bad condition.

ABDUCTED TRIBESMEN: Former MNA Noorul Haq Qadri and former senator Pir Abdul Malik have demanded of the Khyber Agency political administration to help in early recovery of 17 abducted Shinwari tribesmen.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, they said that the abducted tribesmen, mostly young people, could not be recovered despite lapse of 11 days.Meanwhile, a seven-member delegation of parents of the abducted men returned empty handed from Nangarhar province of Afghanistan after remaining thereforthree days.

Khalil Khan, one of the members of delegation, said that they met elders of Afghan tribes residing near the border and sought their assistance in recovery of their relatives.

He said that no clue could be found to the whereabouts of the missing men, nor any militant group had approached them so far.
