Women teachers get cash prizes for good performance

TIMERGARA: Cash prizes of Rs100,000 and Rs50,000 were distributed among six head teachers and 42 teachers of government girls high, higher and middle schools in Lower Dir for their good performance.

The schools` heads were also provided with computer sets, printers and teachers` tablets during a function held at government girls` centennial model high school here. JI woman wing deputy secretary Ayesha Syed was the chief guest.

The prizes were given to the teachers on the reportof the independent monitoring unit, which assessed their performance. Girl students also presented tableaus, national anthem and songs and speeches on the occasion and received appreciation from the audience.

Addressing the gathering, MNA Ayesha Syed appreciated the role of female teachers in educating girls despite threats to their lives by militants.

She said the present government had given priority to the education sector and now it was responsibility of the teachers to help the government achieve the goal.

On the occasion, the district education officer said all state run girls schools in the district were being provided with basic facilities and staff.

BUDGET PRESENTED: The Samar Bagh tehsil council approved over Rs23 million budget for the year 2015-16, at a meeting on Wednesday chaired by naib nazim Bashir ul Haq.

Presenting the budget, Samar Bagh tehsil nazim Saeed Ahmad Bacha said the amount would be spent on payment of salaries of employees and development schemes.

BODY RECOVERED: Body of a three-year-old child of Sar Banda area of Maidan was retrieved from a well at Shezadi village in the jurisdiction of Balambat police station.

The child, Abu Bakar, had been missing for the last three days. The police said they were investigating whether the child fell into the well or was thrown there by someone.
