PM urged to start talks with Taliban

2014-01-16
NOWSHERA: All the political parties have given mandate to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to start negotiations with Taliban, but it is unclear why he is delaying the process. Mr Sharif should show sincerity and launch talks with Taliban as soon as possible.

Jamaat-i-Islami leaders said this while speaking at a public gathering organised here the other day by Shabab-i-Milli on `Ittehad-iUmat and Qazi Hussain Ahmad` Milli Yakjehti Council and JI leader Liaquat Baloch, JUI-F central leader Hafiz Hussain Ahmad, JI provincial chief Prof Ibrahim, senior minister Sirajul Haq, JUI-S leader Maulana Hamid Haq, Qazi Lugman and others spoke on the occasion.

`All the political parties have given mandate of negotiations with Taliban to the federal government, but it seems that Nawaz Sharif is not sincere in launching the talks,` Mr Baloch said. He criticised the politics of PPP, PML-N, ANP and MQM and said they had failed to provide protection to the people.

The JI leader called for collective efforts against secular elements in the country, saying that the US, India and Israel were trying to create rift among the Muslims. `It is need of the time to forge unity against secular elements and the so-called human rights activists, who are trying to split the Muslims on different pretexts,`he said.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had decided to denationalise the national institutions, but it would not be acceptable to the nation.

Regarding terrorist activities, he alleged that the US was out to destabilise Pakistan. -Correspondent
