CM adviser`s house attacked with hand grenades in Karak

KARAK: Unknown assailants attacked the house of adviser to chief minister on prisons affairs Malik Qasim Khan Khattak with hand grenades, damaging its main gate.

However, there was no loss of life.

Sources said that the assailants hurled two hand grenades at the house of the adviser early on Wednesday morning. They said that one grenade exploded that damaged the main gate of the house. The residence of the CM`s adviser is situated on the main Indus Highway near Fateh Sheri Chowk.

The sources said that police cordoned off the area soon after the attack while several suspected persons had been arrested and shifted to an unknown location for interrogation.

Meanwhile, two persons were kil-led and two others seriously injured when two groups opened indiscriminate fire on each other during a jirga in Dheraki Banda area of Banda Daud Shah tehsil. Sources said here on Wednesday that there was a dispute involving a woman between one Saeed Rehman, a resident of Dheraki Banda, and Hashmatullah a resident of Badhber, Peshawar, and a jirga was in progress the other day to resolve the issue when they started firing on each other.

As a result, both Hashmatullah and Saeed Rehman were killed on the spot while Ayaz Rehman and Mohammad Zakir, both residents of Dheraki Banda, sustained injuries.

They were taken to the local hospital.

Banda Daud Shah police have registered FIR of the incident.

Meanwhile, a 9th grade student and son of district president of Pakistan People`s Party Mr Khursheed, identified as Altaf allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself.

He was later buried in Mithakhel graveyard.

DAM OPPOSED: PakhtunkhwaMilli Awami Party (PkMAP) provincial chief Mukhtiar Khan Yousafzai has warned that construction of Kalabagh dam would not be good for the country`s integrity.

Addressing a public gathering here at Ghundi Shahbaz Khan on Wednesday, Mr Yousafzai claimed that by building Kalabagh dam the Punjab province wanted to grab the water share of Pakhtun nation.

He criticised the committee formed by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak for creation of Hazara province and added that they wanted to keep Pakhtuns united while the CM was planning to divide them.

Mr Yousafzai said that the PkMAP would foil the conspiracies of the construction of Kalabagh dam and creation of Hazara province.

The nationalist leader claimed that all the nations had given votes to their nationalist parties, but only Pakhtuns had not given votes to their nationalist parties in the last general election. He claimed that due to their disunity mosques and madaris of Pakhtuns were not secure.
