Private schools to be inspected today

By A Reporter 2016-02-16
RAWALPINDI: Local administration and the police will start inspecting private schools on Tuesday to see if they have installed proper security measures.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Sajid Zafar Dall and City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Abbasi will be visiting 33 private schools in the garrison city which had not adopted the security measures that were recommended by the provincial government.

DCO Dall told Dawn that a survey of the 489 private and government run schools in the city had been completed and that more than 33 private schools had failed to upgrade their security arrangements.

Legal action will be taken against the schools if any of the outlined security measures are found missing, he said.

The government has provided state run schools with enough funds for them to upgrade their security arrangements and universities will be inspected next, DCO Dall added.

He said the Rawalpindi Medical College and some private institutions had been asked repeatedly to improve their security arrangements and that the local police was also carrying out surveys under the supervision of assistant commissioners to ensure all schools are safe.
