MANY enterprising people are running educational institutes and calling them cadet colleges. They also claim they have af filiation with the army or air force for their institutions.
A hilly terrain is the best venue to set up a cadet college. This makes Murree and its vicinity an ideal choice. I taught at one such institution for six months and recorded my observations in a diary that I want to share with Dawn`s readers.
Well-of f parents send their children to such institutions and think that they have done their bit. The sad part is that these institutions do not of fer the facilities essential for cadet colleges.
The setting up of a cadet college does not merely mean fulfilling a few formalities. A retired of ficer from the armed forces is hired as a principal and the institution is af fliated with a private university examination board.
Then they hire under-qualified persons asadministrators, adjutants and teachers. I was the only degree holder on the staf f at this so-callededucationinstitution.Theyhave developed this racket into an art form and exploit parents` concern for their children.
I wish to warn parents to beware of unknown cadet colleges and urge the authorities concerned to take action and regulate suchinsutudons.
