MIRPURKHAS: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has given additional charge of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Mirpurkhas, to the chairman of the Board of Secondary Education, Karachi, Anwar Ahmed Zai, instead of appointing a new full-fledged chairman.

The Mirpurkhas board`s affairs have been in disarray since the appointment of Shafique Ahmed Khan as chairman and his resignation about 15 months ago. Fasihuddin Ahmed Khan was given the charge of the board.

Sources said that despite a great need of a new chairman the chief minister once again opted to stick to ad hocism for unknown reasons though the board af fairs went from bad to worse after Mr Fasihuddin was removed from service a few months back.

The president of BISE unit of the All Pakistan Clerks Association and head of the board`s employees union, Malak Abdul Sattar, said that the board needed a fullfledged chairman to resolve people`s issues and grievances of employees who were deprived of many facilities and rights they were entitled to due to the absence of a chairman.

Mr Zai, who also served as the first chairman of the Mirpurkhas board, arrived here on Wednesday and was accorded a warm welcome by employees.

He announced on the occasion that the employees would be given Eid advance salary and a number of other facilities.
