Principal-admin row Daanish School students face tough time

By Irfanul Haq 2015-10-16
RAHIMYAR KHAN: The students of the Daanish School (boys section) have been bearing the brunt of differences between the head office and the principal over certain issues for the last two months.

As the principal was unceremoniously shown the door, he moved court and got a stay order.

Imran Naik said he joined the Daanish School as principal on Sept14, 2012, on a three-year contract and differences developed with the management when in January 2015 he applied for extension. The school managing director, retired Col Ehtesham Anwar, appointed his cousin Tariq (a retired major) as admin officer atthe school.

He alleged that Maj Tariq started interfering in departmental matters to which he objected and thereafter an official asked him not to apply for extension. Later, the authorities locked his residence and banned his entry to the Principal Office.

Mr Naik got the stay order from the LHC Bahawalpur Bench on the plea that he was being stopped from getting extension without any justification. He said that on the orders of the DCO, two teams conducted the audit and the EDO health checked the standard of food supplied by contractor Abdul Naeem Khan to the school and it found food substandard. He said a case was registered against the contractor and he was arrested.

Mr Naik said the same day he (principal)was given termination letter which was illegal due to stay order and he filed an application for contempt. He said the head office granted extension to the food contractor without any tender.

He claimed that the DCO recommended the termination of admin officer Maj Tariq in the governing body meeting but the head of fice did not take any action on it. It started recruiting clerks, security guards, drivers and storekeepersinviolation ofrules.

The admin officer, on the other hand, claimed that there were many complaints against the principal who did not appear before the inquiry teams which declared him guilty of misconduct.

He accused the principal of purchasing a car from canteen contractor for Rs900,000 but actually not paying the amount and alsoextorting Rs100,000 monthly from the canteen contractor for allowing him to continue.

He said when the corruption of the principal was disclosed, he approached court to cover up his irregularities. He said the allegations in the FIR against the food contractor were baseless.

Contractor Abdul Naeem Khan told this correspondent that he would show the documents of the principal`s corruption as proved in the inquiries conducted by the head office.

DCO Muhammad Zafar Iqbal said he was in court and would comment on it later.

The next hearing of the case will be held on Nov 17. It is learnt that the school administration has already released advertisement for the post of principal.
