Students awarded degrees

OMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CllT) Wah Campus held its 70th convocation in which 172 students were awarded graduate and postgraduate degrees.

Addressing the participants, CllT Rector Dr SM Junaid Zaidi said knowledge and higher education are transforming the world. He said IT institutions propel a country forward and help in facing the challenges of globalisation.

Dr Zaidi appreciated the efforts of the faculty members and the university management in providing students with a conducive environment. He said the institution is committed towards proving quality education to its students.

The gold medal was awarded to Faiz Haider Khan, while the silver medal was awarded to Rabia Basri. Dr Tayyeb Akrm Director CllT Wah Campus shared the long term strategic and development plans of CllT Wah Campus with the participants at the ceremony.

Dr SM Junaid Zaidi told Dawn four new campuses of CllT would be established in different parts of the country while an information technology centre would be established in Islamabad for promotion of IT, science and technology.

He said planning for the establishment of a state of the art Technology Park in Islamabad is in the final stages. He said China and private sector investors will be involved in the project.

He expressed hope that the project would play a pivotal role in the promotion of the research in the country.
