Three shot dead in Swabi incidents

SWABI: Three people were shot dead and one injured in different incidents here on Monday, said police.

Unidentified assailants shot dead a man, Mohammad Yousuf, inside his shop in Dagai bazaar, said an official of Kalu Khan police, quoting the victim`s brother, Sardfar Ali. He told the police that they had no enmity with anyone. The police registered case and began efforts to arrest the killers.

In another incident in Kalu Khan, one person was killed and another injured when two groups clashed over a piece of land. The victim was identified as Mumtaz Khan from one group and injured, Omara Khan, from the other.

Both the parties registered FIRs against each other.

In Salim Khan village, a man, Miskeen Zada, was allegedly shot dead over some unknown reasons. A police official said the victim might have committed suicide because he was shot in the chest inside his room. Police have started investigations after registering the case.

ANP ELECTIONS: Haji Rehmanullah, who dominated Awami National Party politics at the district level for the last 25 years, was re-elected as the party`s district president in the elections on Monday.

Briefing mediapersons, former ANP`s district general secretary Tamraiz Khan said Mr Rehmanullah got 378 votes against his rival, Aman Khan from the Jehan Zeb Khan`s group, who got 171 votes. Similarly, Mohammad Islam Khan of the Rehmanullah group won the general secretary slot by securing 340 votes against his rival, MPA Sikandar Ifran from the Jehan Zeb Khan`s group, who bagged 198 votes.

Mr Tamraiz said that the president and general secretary of each union council and district members were potential voters. Correspondent
