LAKKI MARWAT: The authorities have registered 102 internally displaced families from North Waziristan Agency in the district.

An official said that the registered displaced families consisted of 397 men, 416 women and 218 children. He said that tribal people migrated to the district before the launch of military operation against militants in the agency. He said that the displaced families acquired houses on rent in different parts of the district.

The official said that 30 displaced families consisting of 150 men, 170 women and 87 children were registered in the limits of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station of Serai Naurang town. He said that in Tajori, policemen registered 20 families comprising 59 men, 70 women and 21 children.

In the limits of Lakki Marwat police station, the official said, 19 displaced families having 85 men, 80 women and 45 children were registered. He said that 17 displaced families consisting of 29 men, 21 women and 13 children and 10 more families having 53 men, 49 women and 23 children were registered in the vicinity of Dadiwala and Shaheed Halbat Ali Khan police stations respectively.

Similarly, six families from North Waziristan Agency comprising 21 men, 26 women and 29 children were registered in the limits of Ghaznikhel police station, the official said.

He said that security was beefed up in the district as exodus of people from North Waziristan Agency was expected after the launch of operation against terrorists there.

ASSISTANCE LINE: The police department has established Police Assistance Line (PAL) in Lakki city to help people in filing their complaints, says a press release.

DPO Ismail Kharak, who inaugurated the facility, said that people could lodge complaints there regarding theft, extortion and child lost. He said that PAL would also provide assistance to the residents of the district in vehicle verification and other daily nature matters.

`A special desk has been set up at the facility to provide legal advice to the citizens,` Mr Khattak said. He added that PAL would remain open seven days a week. He urged people to take advantage of the facility and get their complaints resolved without facing any difficulty.

ROAD: The provincial government has approved construction of a road in Kurrum Par area of Lakki Marwat district.

A source said that the project was included in the provincial Annual Developmental Programme for the next fiscal year. He said that funds were allocated for the project in budget.

The source said that Kurrum Par area lacked basic facilities and needed attention of the lawmakers. The road project would enable the rural population to have an easy access to the urban localities, he added.
