PESHAWAR:Unidentified attackers on Saturday shot and injured a policeman in the limits of Faqirabad police station here.
A police official identified the injured as Hidyatullah who was targeted in the Qazi Killay area of the city. He said the cop was associated with the special branch of the police and was deputed at Peshawar High Court. The official said that incident took place at around 9am, when the cop was on his way to work. He added that the number of attackers was not known.
He said the cop sustained three bullet injuries and was admitted to the Lady Reading Hospital in critical condition.
He said that apparently it was an incident of targeted killing as the cop and his family had no enmity with anyone. The police official said that the Counter-Terrorism Department had registered an FIR and started investigation.
