KARACHI: A faith-healer was shot dead in Gulshan-iMaymar on Tuesday evening, police said.

They added that Imran Kamal, 55, was sitting at his `astana`in Jinjal Goth when assailants came there, fired at him and fled.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Superhighway SHO Rana Haseeb said that it appeared that the faith-healer was targeted by militants in the area. However, investigators were probing the exact motive for the killing.

Suspect killed in encounter A suspected robber was shot dead in a police encounter in Gulshan-i-Maymar on Tuesday evening.

SSP-West Irfan Baloch said that a gang of robbers allegedly tried to snatch a trailer on Northern Bypass. A police patrol reached the scene and in an ensuing encounter one of the suspects was shot dead while others managed to escape.
