UPPER DIR: Rahatullah, son of PPP leader and former federal minister Najmuddin Khan, escaped attempt on his life as unidentified miscreants opened fire on his bulletproof vehicle here on Wednesday.

Police said that the incident took place when Rahatullah was going to Chukiytan from Dir town to attend a funeral prayer there. Rahatullah told Dawn that he was driving the car and when he reached Kotkey he heard sound of a bullet fire, but he didn’t take it seriously. However, he said that when he saw a bullet mark on the window of the car he speeded away his vehicle. He said that he had informed the security forces about the incident.

Mr Najmuddin said that he himself was the apparent target of the attackers because they thought that he (Najmuddin) was driving the car. He said that the security forces had already informed him about the threat. Dir circle DSP said that the FIR had been registered against unidentified attacker.
