Teachers` civil service rules won`t be changed

TIMERGARA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department Director Mohammad Rafiq Khattak on Saturday said there was no proposal under consideration to amend the civil service rules for teachers.

He was addressing a function held here at Government High School Shamshi Khan Talash to honour Abdul Wali Khan, the newly-posted secretary of Board of Elementary and Secondary Education Malakand.

Mr Khattak said being the director of education department he was assuring the teachers` community that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government won`t bring changes to the existing service rulesforteachers.

He said some vest interests had been spreading negative propaganda against the government.

The director education said he was a representative of teachers` community and that he would defend their rights.

He said regularisation of over 40,000 ad hoc teachers and approval of time-scale formula was part of the proposed education act.

He said the teachers` bodies would be taken on board before implementing the act.

The government has sanctioned Rs800 million for improving and building capacity of teachers in the province,` Mr Khattak said, adding staff shortage and provision of missing facilities in schools had been overcome. He claimed that over 160,000 students from private schools had shifted to government schools that showed public confidence in the public education system.

The education director said boundary walls of all the schools would be completed before June 2018. He also announced construction of four additional rooms, a water supply scheme and playground for government high school Shamshi Khan.

PUBLIC COOPERATION SOUGHT: The newly-posted Lower Dir DPO Nowsher Khan on Saturday said eradication of crime was not possible without the people`s support.

He stated this while talking to separate delegations of local traders, journalists and senior citizens.

The DPO said traffic mess, street crime and minor disputes would be tackled with public support. He said protection of human dignity and property was the prime duty of police. He asked the traders and journalists to extend cooperation in curbing crime.
